Currency Meter 2.0 – New Version Of My Best-Kept Forex Currency Strength Analysis Tool…
After receiving hundreds of emails from Forex traders after the first release of my Currency Meter, I’ve finally decided to work on the second version fixing some of the issues while adding improvements in the overall performance of this little Forex tool.
Here is a basic list of what’s new:
- Improved CPU load and tasking… This fixed issues of my Meter taking up 100% of the processing time. Due to the original code tasking the CPU differently than the new code, now the CPU is running only at 3~5% max, which is an instant boost in your overall performance while running my currency strength meter.
- Added a text field so that you can enter your own symbol… Since many brokers use their own version of Forex symbols, such as EURUSDFXF (Forex.com), my meter had an issue before getting the proper data… Now you can just click on “My Broker Uses Different Quote” and a text box will appear, just enter “FXF” in the text field and your meter will work instantly… This adds flexibility in any broker you use to use.
- No more banner ads… I know some people were not very happy with Banner ads, so I decide to take them out for the time being and that freed up tons of space… I’m sure you’ll thank me for it.
- Made the Currency Symbols and their relative Strength sizable. I think the original size may be too big for people who uses a low resolution such as 640×480, so this resizing option should take care of that…
In the future edition I’m going to add more improvements such as alerts, market cycle notification, and more… so make sure you are on my newsletter list to receive updates.
Henry

Thanks for this, Henry. I can\’t get the Meter to show prices. Have changed quote to EURUSDm as per my broker and have DDE enabled. I have been through the sequence you describe several times! Is there any reason why it wouldn\’t work with MT4 from Interbank FX?
Many thanks again
Chris

Henry, I must confess that you are so kind-hearted. I appreciate your effort (to make young forex traders succeed) so much. Thanks for improving the Meter. It is so useful. I am waiting for the future Edition of the Meter which will contain the additional features above. More grease to your elbow.

you have been so helpful to me so thanks.
By Henry Liu, December 15, 2009 @ 4:54 pm
Hi Paul, not sure why you are having problems downloading it. However, I have just emailed you a copy.
By Henry Liu, December 15, 2009 @ 4:57 pm
BOK:
What is your broker’s symbol for EURUSD pair? Look at the characters after EURUSD, if it is EURUSDfx, enter “fx” in the textbox without the quotes.

Chris:
I tried with Interbank and it works wonders. Make sure you entered a small case “m” without the quotes. It should kick in immediately. When everythign fails, restart your PC and try again. It sometimes does wonders.

Hi Henry, downloaded your CM software without any problem, but do not know how to apply it to my broker. I use FXCM. Any idea?
By Des W, December 15, 2009 @ 5:30 pm
Many thanks, Mr. Lieu. I have found NP1 invaluable so look forward to using this improved version.
By Henry Liu, December 15, 2009 @ 5:39 pm
Ismael:
Make sure you get the MT4 or Metatrader 4 platform with FXCM. It should work out like the others. Watch my video if you have issues on installation. If you don’t have MT4 with FXCM, get a demo account with FXDD as it works with my software 100% (I programmed the meter using FXDD, by the way).

Hi,
I tried it on Windows 7, but message comes up – the file C:\windows\system32\oleaut32.dll could not be opened!?! Is it working on Windows 7?
By stillstanding8, December 15, 2009 @ 8:03 pm
thanks 4 ur generous mr henry..
may god bless u
By Admin, December 15, 2009 @ 10:07 pm
Aigars:
Havent really tried on Windows 7, but if you ignore that message, it should skip it and work. This installs some microsoft runtime to get the program working. So you may already have the latest runtime.

Jean-Francois:
Did you enable DDE server on your MT4? If you did, did you restart your MT4?
If all else fails, go download a demo from http://www.fxdd.com and see if that could work. This is to make sure that the meter does work in your machine.

just one thing, how can i change the font size and the colours (red to blue and blue to red).
thanks & happy new year!!
By Kevin, January 1, 2010 @ 8:11 pm
Hi Henry,
Can you add an email/sms text/sound alerts to the Strength Meter? It could be
configurable for certain currencies and certain values. For example, if the
value for a currency selected was over 6.0 or under 2.0, an alert would be sent.
Thanks for all of your great work,
Kevin

Hello,
The currency meter is not changing figures since the last time I installed it. I thought the currecny figure would change on daily basis?
since 3 weeks I installed it, it is still reading USD 5.10, EUR 0.00, GBP 2.30…..etc
This has remain fixed. Please, why it is not chanmging the currency weight?
By Admin, January 20, 2010 @ 11:30 pm
Olu:
You have to watch the video. It does not “attach” to your chart or as a script. You just enable DDE server and run the meter. It is not part of MT4… It needs MT4, but just have MT4 running and start the program.
By Admin, January 20, 2010 @ 11:32 pm
No, it doesn’t work with timeframes. It looks at the daily range.
henry
By Admin, January 20, 2010 @ 11:33 pm
It should work with Ikon platform.
I’ve tested and it works.
By Admin, January 20, 2010 @ 11:34 pm
Send me a screenshot of you following everything. Including the DDE server checkbox showing checked.
Normally it is a very simple thing that you missed. It’s all the same story.
By Admin, January 20, 2010 @ 11:34 pm
As expected… good job.
By Admin, January 20, 2010 @ 11:35 pm
No you can’t really change those things as they are build it.
I wonder why you would like to change…
Henry
By Admin, January 20, 2010 @ 11:35 pm
Not at this time, but maybe later.
Henry
By Admin, January 20, 2010 @ 11:37 pm
Not sure Paul.
Do you have MT4 running? What broker?
By Michael, January 22, 2010 @ 12:25 am
Hi Henry
I installed your Currency Meter, but it is not working.
I have checked off the DDE Server, and have re-started the MT4 platform, but nothing??
By Isaiah, January 28, 2010 @ 9:38 am
Henry, God bless you. Thank you for the gift of Currency Meter. I have successfully downloaded the CM but I have difficulty in watching the video. I’ll so much be grateful if you can send a copy of the video to me so that I can have it on my system. Million Thanks. (Isaiah – +2348033879194)
By Isaiah, January 28, 2010 @ 1:33 pm
In addition to the video that I requested for I’ll so much appreciate it if I can get a guide lines on the best and appropriate ways of using the Currency Meter.
Thank you.
By CPang, February 6, 2010 @ 2:35 pm
Great stuff Henry. And FREE! Thanks for your generosity.
By Admin, March 6, 2010 @ 10:10 pm
Michael:
Does your broker use nonconventional symbols? Such as EURUSDFXF instead of EURUSD? If this is the case, make sure you check the checkbox “My broker uses different quote” and enter the symbols that your broker uses… for my previous example, you’d enter FXF instead of EURUSDFXF in the text box below the checkbox (the textbox appears after you’ve checked on the checkbox).
If this is not the case, then restart your PC as it sometimes solves the issue.

Steven:
What difficulties are you having?
Henry
By Kevin, March 15, 2010 @ 10:39 pm
Hi Henry.
Dwonloaded and keen to use the meter but it only has fixed values in it with \"0.00\" for the EUR and NZD. I think it is not linked to data. I have an FXCM account. Can it link into that data or is there another way to have it work for me.
Thankyou
Kevin
By Admin, March 16, 2010 @ 8:12 pm
Kevin:
Make sure you show all pairs. Sometimes when you don’t have some of the 19 pairs present in your Market Watch, the meter does not work.

Once again, thanks alot.
