Currency Meter Installation Guide

I’m getting flooded with questions on the simple installation steps.  So I decided to make this post.  However, if you just take a few moment and watch my previous video, you’ll see how to set it up.  Of course I understand if you are a new visitor to my site, you might not have had a chance to watch my videos, so here is the cliff-notes version of installation.

Here is what you need:

1. A Metatrader 4 trading platform.  I recommed FXDD because I made my meter using their feed.  Here is the link to get it,

FXDD Metatrader 4 Download

2. Once you’ve downloaded the Demo, install it and you’ll get an Open account screen, enter your information and then click on Next – > Next -> Finished

3. Now go to Tools ->Options -> Server (Tab) -> Check Enable DDE Server

4. Now Close Metatrader4 (FXDD – Metatrader program)

5. Start Metatrader 4

6. Start Currency Strength Meter.

That’s it, it should work flawlessly.

Henry

  • By Admin, March 29, 2010 @ 11:29 am

None of what you said, Mario.

Read the instructions or at least be specific with your issue. No one can help you unless you are specific.

  • By Mario, March 29, 2010 @ 12:38 pm

Hello Henry!Sorry for that now I will be much specific http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/9853/nmfxdd.png

    Mario:

Please read my post on this program, I think it is self-explanatory. Also watch the video on 7 best uses if you have not done so already. Now in regard to your issue, did you enable DDE Server? Did you use FXDD? Do you have Windows 7? Because it doesn’t work with it.

    Henry
Please click link upstairs…You see that I use FXDD + enable DDE Server and i use XP I watched the video on 7 best uses so…take a moment and read me carefully I am not the one who write it is not working only 0 nothing else.I use this program on my real account so I want to know what this program do and my account is still safty.

    Mario:
I am having a hard time understanding you. I have looked at the img you uploaded, seems that you’ve got it right. I installed a Polish version of FXDD and I got it to work the same way as English version. There is no problem on my end. I have no idea why it is not working on your machine as if DDE SERVER is enabled, my program should work. Can you try it on another machine just to double check? Let me know after you’ve done that. I am thinking this issue could be isolated with your machine.

    Henry

  • By Mario, April 2, 2010 @ 7:02 pm

    Henry
I tried it with my two friends on different machines and the same problem not working.

  • By Admin, April 4, 2010 @ 3:34 am

You are getting 0.0 after you have installed FXDD, enabled DDE server, shut down FXDD, then restarted FXDD, and then you start the meter. And the meter does not work at all? Is it simply not moving all is it showing 0.00 with blue on all numbers?

  • By Terry, April 5, 2010 @ 4:46 pm

I’m having the same problem. I’ve installed twice, made sure that the server DDE is enabled, rebooted and STILL get nothing but blue 0.00s. I also have noted that when I mouse over the app, the cursor quivers/shakes. BTW, I’m using Win XP.

    Terry:

Did you try to use FXDD english version? Let me know after you tried with FXDD.

thanks Henry, i have install and it work. Now it is time for me to backtest my demo account!

  • By Emmanuel Charles, April 6, 2010 @ 10:30 pm

i tried using the currency strengthener and its not installing and i will like to know exactly how it can be used and installed.

  • By Nelson Tan, April 7, 2010 @ 3:06 am

    Hi Henry,

I\’m also using Win XP but with IBFX. Same error as Terry, 0.00s all the way. Changing pair symbol to EURUSDm does not help. I believe the cursor quivers means the DDE server feed is trying to work with the meter in some way.

  • By Henry Liu, April 8, 2010 @ 5:18 pm

I like to know what steps have you done exactly. Be detailed, by specific.

    Henry

  • By Henry Liu, April 8, 2010 @ 5:19 pm

    Nelson:

I have IBFX and I got it working perfectly.
DO this, instead of using your live account, create a demo account and leave everything the same. Enable DDE server, then restart IBFX. See if that makes the meter go. If it works, then use your live account and enter “m” or “M” (without the quotes) in the texbox and see if that will kick start the meter.

    hi
    thanks for curency meter

  • By Terry, April 10, 2010 @ 5:11 am

Is IBFX a broker? I’m using IKON Royal.

I’m not sure what to do after I key in EURUSDm into the Broker Symbol field. I’ve tried hitting the Return key and nothing happens.

I think that the “quivering” is alternating between the cursor and hour-glass, like it’s attempting to respond to the server.

    Thanks anyway, Henry!

  • By Henry Liu, April 10, 2010 @ 3:42 pm

    Terry:

Instead of entering EURUSDm, you should enter “m” or “M”, (without the quotation marks).

Just 1 letter, try it out.

Oh, make sure IKON’s symbol is EURUSDm, confirm it in the market watch.

    Henry

  • By Nelson Tan, April 12, 2010 @ 9:49 am

It works on my demo non-mini account, still doesn’t work on ‘live’. That should be some clue.

  • By Henry Liu, April 12, 2010 @ 2:23 pm

Nelson it should work on both. There is no difference as far as my program is where it gets the data.

  • By Terry, April 12, 2010 @ 4:46 pm

I typed in both “M” and “m” (w/o the quotes) and then pressed “Enter” but nothing happens — the blue “0″s just sat there and nothing happened.

  • By Terry, April 16, 2010 @ 4:38 pm

Should I just assume that this app just won’t work on my particular Windoze Piece of Crap?

    Hi Henry,

Greetz from Spain. I´m very happy with y´r tool. Great man. One little question: What is the meaning of the red background color? I see orange, yellow and blue (format of the number is a bit strange (for example 7,25.00) but it works for me on XP en MT4. Red gives also often a number format (for example 5.0)

    Regards
    Gerrit

  • By Tom Yeomans Fan, May 10, 2010 @ 9:07 pm

Henry Liu continues to be a complete joke and having to see his ‘down syndrome’ looking picture everytime I randomly click on a “Currency Strength Meter” link is getting very annoying.

Henry Liu and his whole premise that HE developed this Currency Meter and it is a secret is such a sham and scam.

ANYONE that has been using Currency Strength Meters for a few years knows that he did not develop this.

EVERYONE knows that this children’s version of a meter was coded by Tom Yeomans back in 2008. It was his first array into Currency Strength Meters and improved that faulty code when he developed FX4CASTER, 4XPILOT, and now AccuStrength 3. This Excel Meter has been around the world and has been posted in hundreds of locations throughout the years.

Tom’s new meters have their own non-DDE data feed that does not rely on MT4. Henry Liu’s garbage meter will not work anymore once MT5 is fully adopted because MT5 does not offer the free DDE feed that his meter relies on.

Henry, why do you continue to praise yourself month after month on message boards for developing this software when you know you did not?

Why do you continue to portray yourself as some Forex and Software developing genius when you know that you either bought this meter from Tom a couple years ago or downloaded it for free somewhere?

This whole thing is ridiculous and your face looks ridiculous. Please make it stop.

  • By Suresh Maharaj, June 4, 2010 @ 5:45 am

Henry did u say that the currency meter will not work with Windows 7. I have Windows 7……….hooked ot up with FXCM MT4 and it SEEMS to be working……….maybe i am just thinking that its working when it\’s not!

  • By Gabe, June 9, 2010 @ 9:03 am

    Hi!

For everybody, who has always get 0.00. Check the Windows regional settings. Try to use English settings, because program needs “.” as a decimal separator, not “,”. Or just change the decimal symbol at the Customize regional options.

    Hi Henry,

Thanks for the great tool that you wrote for free distribution. Btw, i understood that the meter feed was from FXDD. I m using IBFX, just wondering if i can instruct to program to get feed from IBFX? i not sure if FXDD is exact same as IBFX. Thx.

Omg, where is my previous post?
    Did you delete it?

  • By Sam, July 15, 2010 @ 4:32 pm

Typing in the \"m\" got it working for me.
Running windows 7, IBFX live account.
    Thanks Henry

  • By Henry Liu, July 16, 2010 @ 12:44 am

if your broker has nonstandard quotes, enter the characters after the standard symbol. EURUSD is standard. EURUSDFXF is nonstandard. The characters after standard symbol “FXF” are what you need to enter in the text box. Remember it is CaSe SeNsItIvE and you don’t have to enter the quotation marks (”).

There are 2 checkboxes, check the one that says “My Broker use…” and a textbox will appear, enter the FXF in textbox and the meter should work!

HENRY JUST CHANGED FROM MT4 DEMO with FXCM TO A LIVE ACCOUNT BUT YOUR METER DOES NOT WORK ALL THE SETTINGS ARE AS PREVIOUS
Do you have any advice, i have downloaded another demo and the meter works but not with the live account alone??

  • By Gle2nn, July 20, 2010 @ 4:34 pm

    Hi, Downloaded per your instruction, FXDD Broker, meter shows 5.10,0.00,2.30, 6.00, 9.00, 2.30, 9.00, 0.00 respectifully…

  • By Moderator, July 25, 2010 @ 2:02 am

Peter, check the currency pair names in the ‘Market Watch’ window of your live MT4. If there are no letters after the currency pair names (ie. EURUSD), then you uncheck the option ‘My broker uses different quote’ in the meter. If it has extra characters next to the name (ie. EURUSDm), then you check the option and enter ‘m’ in the field provided.

    Hi Henry

  • By peterbell, August 23, 2010 @ 12:35 pm

    Hi Henry
Having same problems as others, i cant get CSmeter to run with demo or live, just sits there with blue numbers not changing at all, done everything to install,do you have to install it to the mt4 directory like EAs or just in its own NP directory.started new demo enabled dde etc then restarted, just blue boxes.

  • By Henry Liu, September 5, 2010 @ 10:12 pm

Ok then make sure your provider doesn’t have an unconventional symbol such as EURUSDm. It you do see m, or -, or FXF, or anything after the pair, you need to check the box and enter that in the textarea below. There are 2 checkboxes on the meter, you need to check the 2nd one that says “My broker…” and then a textbox will show up, enter the m, or -, or FXF…
